C’est Moi

Hello! I’m Ali. Minnesota, U.S.A. is where I call home. I’ve had an interest in history & politics my whole life. I got my B.A. in Political Science from the University of Minnesota and then moved to Canada to receive my M.A. from the University of Manitoba. My interest in history has grown exponentially in recent years. I love to read and research on the First World War, with a particular focus on the American participation and French war experience, but am always looking to learn more about all aspects of the war. I also dabble in things like: the U.S. Civil War, the Franco-Prussian War and Second World War.

I’ve been attempting to speak at least passable French since 2005 and am always on the hunt for an obscure historical documentary or film. My German, French and Polish ancestry connects me to those parts of the world that I’m still learning more about and hope to see more of.

This is not my “day job”. This blog is a hobby and creative outlet for me. I’m not a military historian or an expert on the First World War (or really anything at all, except maybe where to find a good donut in the Twin Cities). That being said, I’m always happy to connect with people who share my interests, so give me a shout if you’d like! I have really enjoyed being a part of the awesome communities over at the Civil War Breakfast Club and the Great War Group – so maybe that’s how we met! If not, check them out.
